lee 2027 wall calendar

The Annie Lee paintings that built the artist's reputation as one of the top-selling African American visual storytellers of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries take twelve pages in Annie Lee 2027 Wall Calendar. Lee (1935-2014) was a Chicago-born artist who spent decades working at the Illinois Central Railroad before turning to painting full-time, and her trademark style (Black figures rendered without facial features, painted in everyday settings that left the viewer to fill in the expression) became one of the most recognizable visual signatures in African American art. The featured paintings include the classics that fans recognize on sight - the church-fan-and-pew scenes, the kitchen-table conversations, the salon visits, the jazz-club nights, and the family-gathering moments that ran across her career.
